Learn to pray

I recently gone through a series of madness in my life, thanks God I manage to hang in there, knowing He is in control, and I just need to learn to trust.

Well, as usual my parents are having fights all the time, it's like cat with a dog, one is meowing the other one barking, so my mum decided to move away from my hometown and stay with us for a while. I remember when I was young, my mum would tell me to do things this way or that way, now I am a grown-up, she is still treating me like a baby.
I have my weird habits of doing things and so is she, but I just need to be patience and let her enjoy having things done her way. (Such as cooking style, the way to arrange the things, cleaning method, ha ha! It's tiny thingy but very annoying!)

On top of that, my mental sick brother is still held up at the center and demand us to take him home, screaming and destroying stuff. (Good grief!) So I got to go down there, sort the things out, talk to him, and negotiate how much to pay back the stuff he destroyed, meet the doctor,  blah blah blah! (The center is so useless in handling this matter, they even asked me what should we do! GOSH!!) I can't believe I paying them money to take care of my brother, and I need to teach them how to do it!! How silly is that! (Huh......take a mint!! Cool down lah....)

Beside that, I found out that my close one is sick, and I can't do anything about it. And some of my best friends are moving away and I am really aloned with no one to talk to.

Ok, so I am having these moodiness in me (who wouldn't?), trying to write stories for newspaper, but I can't seem to focus and concentrate. Even at work, I was frustrated with some applicants who calling me everyday (even after working hours...), and it wasn't an important issues to deal right away.

I suddenly felt insanely jealous of all my friends whom are so successful in their ministry, traveling and doing great things for the Lord, and where am I in God's plan. I was confused, hurt, wet my pillow with tears...... it goes on for a few months.

Then out of the blues, my friend from KL Esther Chong came for a visit to my town, she said that her brother just had an accident two weeks ago. I accompanied her to pay a visit to the local hospital SMC, when we arrive at the ICU ward, her brother was unconcious, and the doctor told us that last night his heart stopped for ten minutes, she immediately ran over to see the brother. Her brother just lying there with all kind of tubes install all over his body, his eyes half open but would not respond when her sister kept calling him "Ah B, Ah B, your sister came all the way from KL to see you. Ah B!..." I was crying deep down inside when I saw the scene. So we stood there and pray for her brother, cried to the Lord to heal him and rescue him.

After a few days, in much prayers and seeking God's miracle, her brother finally awake, and able to talk. My heart is overjoy and glad to know God did a miracle. I took the chance to share with him the simple truth of the gospel in hakka, he was attentive and agree to accept the Lord, so I led him to prayer of confession and invite Jesus to enter his life. That night, God have change two lives, his life and mine. Through this opportunity to care for others, I no longer focus on my own problems, I see God is showing me, "Trust me son, you are in My good hands, take My hands...".

To my surprise, within a few days after that, I was able to write again, and it is amazing. I was able to write a 1,5oo words stories for three days in a row, three stories in my hands to sent out, and my editors told me she was waiting for my stories to print.

I praised God for giving me the inspiration, the people in my life to encourage me, even when the problems arises, I know He'll be there......

Currently, I am learning to pray by sending prayers to my friends in Facebook, you might be the next one......

Fever.....

What the......

Oh GOSH! I touched my forehead this afternoon, and it was burning! I should really get some medicine and rest. (Not after I finished writing this post...) You know, last sunday I went to my home church, and they were celebrating 13th Anniversary, and OM Sabah was invited to share the sermon and I did a mime. I didn't know they were going to announce all the ministry and peoples they have supported during the years, and my name was written in the bulletin and on LCD. (What a horrible picture they put up there!! I looked practically like a gorilla! Huh.....)
So they called each of the representative to collect the letter of appreciation for service, my pastor said there were two missionaries in our midst, one of them is Felix Chai. (Oh my! Finally they label me as missionary! This is cool!!) So I got up there and get my letter, and post a "fake" smile at the camera with my teeth showing. (Eh.....:P) I have been waiting so long for them to finally recognize me in the field, few years...... but God is good and I thanked Him for that.
Oh! The fever is kicking in, my tummy start making noises and my head is starting to wobbly, GOSH...... I need a doctor! Help!!

A lousy beginning

My recent Chinese New Year Celebration at my hometown, pretty much sucks! My parents were fighting over silly matters and my mum wanted to killed herself, so I slapped her (i know it's wrong to do that!) to clear her crazy actions. She was crying and screaming like a little infant and pouring out her bitterness toward my father. What a great way to have a family re-union huh...... crap!
I know life isn't always candy in the sky, most of the time are struggles, sadness, pain and hurting one another. Just few days ago, I realize that one of my best friend is going to move away to another city, and I am going to miss her so much.
I am ready to move on and get on with my life, regardless of the difficult peoples around me, parents, church (drives me crazy!), my mental sick brother, works......!
I need a change and re-focus some of the area of my life, I need to enjoy my life as much as having it and living it.

Mime talk....

My recent performance at Brunei

Take a shot before going on stage

Smile-lah

Looking tired after performing three mime in a row

My recent trip to Brunei was pretty tiring. My boss drove for 8 hours from Kota Kinabalu, bypass 8 different immigration, sarawak and brunei border, two ferries rides......! (Huh....) And we didn't make it on time for the Youth meeting, so we just did a short talk for 15 minute with a video being shown.
On Sunday, my boss was invited to speak in three different congregation within two place Seria and Bandar, two hours in distance. So in the morning english and chinese service I did two mimes, then we drove for two hours to catch the three o'clock service, arrive just right before the service start. (Goodness me!!) I quickly arrange the setup and went to the WC for make-up, it was really a record breaking.
By the time we finish, it was about 5pm, my face was feeling crack and looks really horrible. We drove back to my boss's friend house and I went straight to bed, can't take another mime anymore. (Huh......)

My Hong Kong Visitor - Michael Leung

His full name is Michael Leung Chin Ho

Having local dishes at a restaurant

Visiting Muzium Sabah

Taking a shot in front of a giant basket

On April 5th, I picked up my old friend from HK at the KKIA (Kota Kinabalu International Airport), I was a bit late due to a party at a friend's house, and I was the game master of the boys party. I arrive there catching up with my breaths, notice that there was a handicapped shorty sitting in the waiting chair wondering, then he turned and saw me, he immediately throw his arms around me and give me a hugs and crying. (OK! I haven't seen him for like 7 years ago!!)

He stay with me for about two weeks, wherever I'll go he would follow. So I arrange a few places to visit, we go up to Mount Kinabalu foot hill, soaking in Poring Hot Spring located near Ranau. We also visited Muzium Sabah for Borneo history and background of our rich inheritance. Then I took him for some local food tasting, shopping for souvenirs, KK city sight seeing, not much to do really with his handicapped, and I don't own a car. (Travel by bus or by foot!)

For the whole two weeks he always talking about the MV Doulos ship, about the people he met on board and their stories. To be honest I'm not really into talking about the ship, it's always the "good old time" speech that makes me feeling annoy. (Stop talking about the ship already!!) Those who in touch with the ship, they always talk about the crews and their latest update, and I don't really care about that. (Plus I have no idea who are they in his story!)

Anyway, the last few days I was getting a bit antsy and tired of having company all the time wherever I'll go. (It's like a shadow following you 24/7!!) I shouldn't have said this, but that really what I felt and it drives me crazy!! Well, he's gone now and I glad to have the space again for myself!! Oh wow!......

Design my own name card

My official name card

My mime ministry name card

My creative ministry name card

Now a day, everyone carried a few stack of name card for official business, social matter, personal statement, some even for picking up girls!! (Not me!!) Maybe you could show off your current name card on the net, for creative purposes. (Thought it would be fun to watch other people's name card.)

I wonder if the card really reflects his master personality and tastes? I think they do!!
Months ago, I receive a name card from someone, and his card contents all sort of craps and list of all the company and position he has work for, who cares about that!! How lame!! Which reminds me to keep my name card simple and humble.

Superheroes Party....

"Superheroes" Birthday Party Invitation Card (It's my design)

I love party! (Who wouldn't!?) I also love giving party and being the mastermind (some called it party planner). I got this invitation to plan a birthday party for my friend's boy, named Matthew Moy. So I thought of some boyish theme, such as Transformer (Robots), Spaceship, Seaworld, Superheroes, Animal Kingdom, Pirates of the carribeans...... the list could go on. The boy picked the Superheroes, and I asked him what was his superpowers? He told me his superpower was PIANO MAN!! (Ha ha ha...that's cute!)
So we got a theme, and I need activities, costume, games, decorations, blah blah blah...... food will be catered, so I can ignore that part.
Really looking forward for the party and we'll see how it goes!!
(I will be called "FELIX THE CAT"!! MEOW!! Watch out my "scratch"!)

New pair of spectacle

My new pair of spectacle

It's been a while...... Huh! Now I really need to catch some breath after long hours of works and visiting different church every Sunday. I miss the time off relaxing and just some quiet time reading my favorite books. But I guess life isn't always candy in the sky, but taste of bittersweet dark chocolate in my tongue. I take on a new habit of praying for people that I loved and care, sometime even a stranger that cross my path. Prayer is a wonderful connection we have as a living creature in this planet, it's free and always available 24/7, and direct line to our Heavenly Father. Thanks for the connection, my Daddy up there!!

Cheezy New Year......

Yeah...I don't quite like my Chinese New Year celebration. (Same every year!) I rushed back to my hometown an early morning at 9am (6th Feb 08), along with my elder brother in a coach, the ride should take about seven to eight hours. (Gosh....)
We were suppose to rush back for the re-union dinner in our grandma's house, but guess what!? We weren't invited at all this year!! (Funny huh....) So, instead we go shopping in the night, getting all sort of junk food for Chinese New Year sake.

My dad actually bought a new nikon digital camera, and he is quite a "show-off", snapping here and there. (I would do the same if I get one too!) Now he could get back on his old job again as free lance photographer for newspaper and stuff, he really miss that ever since his old camera wasn't up to date. (Now everywhere is "digital, digital, digital", what a load of craps! What happen to the good old photo quality, now is purely mass-produce stuff, nothing is authentic!!)

In this trip, I noticed my young brother was a bit out of ordinary, he was talking to himself, laughing to himself, giving me those funny eyes contact... (Oh no! Not again!) Of course as accurate as I guess, he finally cracked up on the third day of CNY. He gave me a few slap on my face and broke my bloody nose, what a great way to release his strength on me!! (He's gone mad!!) So I need to get some kleenex to sucked up the flowing blood from my bloody nose, what a crazy day. My gone mad brother didn't just take it on me, he use a chair to BANG on our computer, broke a mouse and almost crash the monitor, what a maniac!! Then I suggest we drive him down the hospital and receive some treatment, this cannot go on. My dad drove him to the hospital with me and my sister coming along to keep guard of him, he was admit to emergency ward. The male nurse asked to him lie down on a bed, he pull out an injection and insert it in my brother's hand. I saw my brother was shaking a little bit but slowly retreat to calmness. (Wow!!) After that, he was quite alright, as if nothing has happen before.

So there goes my CNY, not quite what I enjoy but really expected it to happen anyway!! And I call that LIFE!!

Peep through my "Porthole"

My Cabin 227's porthole

Wow... it was like seven years ago since I departed from MV Doulos. One of my favorite spot on the ship, it's peep through my porthole from my cabin. (The photo was taken while the ship in Philippines, Subic bay port. ) If I am so rich that I could build my own house, I would request to install porthole-like windows, have the sun shine through every morning. Ohhh la la......

A Massage Therapist cum Pastor...

Acupuncture Needles

Cupping Treatment

"Tuina" (push and take) Massage

Some of you might know that I have long history of back ache since I was young (well, i'm still young now!) , I thought I should go for a treatment, a real chinese massage. So near by my house at Subang Jaya USJ8, I saw a small shop with lots of feet hanging on the front door, so I press the bell, "Ding Dong!". Then I saw a 40 years old looking man approaching the door to welcomed me, he was quite nice I thought. I entered the shop, there was a tea corner, lots of massage chair for foot massage, a karaoke TV and a nice looking chinese musical instrument Gu Zheng. He sat me down, shown me a catalog of available treatment for my sore back, there was no one in the shop at all. So I browse through the catalog, and he suggested a package including acupuncture, some back sucking tools treatment and a real chinese massage, and it's only cost RM90. So, I agreed.
First he asked me to wash my stinky feet, and he require me to stripped and lay down on the massage bed. (I forgot to put on my underwear today, I never put it on when I'm wearing jeans. ) So, instead he borrowed a pair of underwear for me and it's fit well. (ha ha....) He start the treatment by inject tiny acupuncture pins in my body, it was about 14 pins in total, felt like ants bite really. He said it's for regenerate my body energy, sort of like a recharge batteries as he put it. After a while lying there naked with pins all over my body, suddenly a flow of electrical flown through my body, and it's funny feeling.
After about 15 mins or so, he pulled out all the pins and rubs some kind of oils on my back, then he plugged the tiny sucker on my back, to sucked my meat in the tube and leave it there. (It was OUCH!!!) I think he plugged in about 15 to 20 suckers, it was real pain but it feels good once the pain subside.
So that was another 15 mins again, then he unplugged all the sucker things from my back and begins the massage process. He rubs his hands with some oils and start with my shoulders, he run his fingers through my muscle and bones, the force were so strong that I was aching with agony. (Ouch...aiyo....ouch ouch) He works through my whole body from head to toes, every inch of massages. After the whole process, my body felt a bit overworked and light weight, sort of like I could fly up with wings attached. (It's true!)
He sat me down again and asked me to fill in a forms with my personal details, then he asked where do I work. (Huh...how do you tell people that you are working in a Christian Organization??) So I was thinking of a better answer and said I was working in OM whom famous for her ships MV Doulos, then he stares at me with delight. (I was like ???) Then he gave me his name card with "Rev" as his position. (What!?) I was so surprised to know about his identity and a pastor running a massage center, that was odd I thought. (That's interesting!) Then we have chit chat about why I'm here and we talk much about singing and music, and he invited me to attend his church for Sunday service. That was his ministry to reach out to the community as he put it, I thought that was really cool, and I love the ideas with karaoke and tea corner to mingle with peoples. (No wonder his shop have such setup!) I will visit him again for another treatment after ten days......

My Big Fat "Chinese" Life......

Manus Island, Papua New Guinea

My korean friend

Old buddy on Doulos

Nagoya, Japan (Painting the church)

Celebrating Christmas on Doulos

Life takes a spin once in a while! Sometime I felt like a contestant on the "wheel of fortune", you win some, you lose some in life. But what surprise you that, you actually make it to the final round. And there you are thinking of a smart answer to the blank, and clock keeps on ticking..... (ummmmmm.....) it is that feeling again, am I giving the right clues? Am I able to answer it? Will people boo me if I lose? Am I making a fool of myself thinking I can do this? Am I? Am I? I bet we will never know the outcome till the clock ring!!!

This last week in church office, I was packing my mess, thinking about my last three years working in this place. Sad, happy, angry, sorrow, joyful..... emotional feeling strikes me up and making me depressed. I will be moving out, working in another office, step up to something I once like, involve myself to mission works. I can't believe working in church actually limits my service to the community, the church put boundaries upon my ministry. That's why I need to move out, I need to breathe, I need more freedom in serving.

Thanks God for the opening, He enables me to return to OM (Operation Mobilisation, famous for her MV DOULOS and MV LOGOS ship), I can serve inter church and reach out to many more in the community.

I know I win if the Lord is on my side, He have all the answer for me.

Me, myself & mimer

Took a snapshot before my performance

I'm gonna eat you alive.... ha ha ha

I love mime, it helps me to express my thought and connect with the audiences. The silence of sound with movements created to speak, that fascinated me how human communicate with each other, in a new tones, new forms.

Turning Point

Since last June, I was having the roughest time of my life. I lost my wallet with all my important documents such as ID, Driving license, some money & my ATM cards. On top of that, my GF's mum just passed away, and I have a horrible fight with my colleague, and plus my mentally sick brother is coming to visit and I have to take care of him. To sum it up......Life is stink like hell! I hate June!
I never felt so depress with all the terrible twist and knots strangling me, it was a real hard time.
I asked God, what's the purpose of all these sufferings in my life?
Why me?
Why the troubles always approach me in one go, and leaving me breathless? (I really can't breathe! )

Some old man said," In life, no pain no gain! We all learn from our struggles and sufferings, there is no easy way or short cut!"

Well, it was true! As I am looking it back now, I can really see the pain and the gain.

I've been writing story and articles for ten years, and I never really did sent my stuff to the editor, because I don't think I've got what it takes.
One day, it was in that same month June, after all the bitter experiences, I got a phone call from the Bridge Christian Publisher in KL. The editor told me that, my articles will be published in a local Chinese newspaper. You can tell how excited I was when I first heard the news, and having that approval from editor. It was this bittersweet experience, makes me wanna come back to God once more, and allow Him to mold, to fill, to use, so that in the end, I am ready to serve Him more!

If right now, you felt like nothing is right with your life? Don't give up, hang in there, because our good God knows what He is doing, and be completely honest, only in sufferings that we felt God is ever so near to us! Praise God for that insight!

My Old Friend......

Nostalgia

It's funny how time play tricks on us, when we are least expected, no aware of those people we met along the way, and they are suddenly grow up and appear right in front of your eyes. (Amazing how much they change, and how long have I lost contact, I never any good in keeping up with long distance friends.)
So, today I log on to my e-mail, and found one e-mail attach in my inbox with name I find foreign. (Who is this guy?? Kong Yong?? Who is Kong Yong? Do I know anyone by that name?) Then I clicked on it to read the content, "Kong Yong has a special message for you......" with a picture of a chinese couple attached. It's one of those site for people to link-up and chat, I never really bother much about it! (Who's there to chat?) So I stared at the picture wondering Kong Yong a boy or a girl, can't really figure it out. Well, the only way to find out is to dig in deeper, so I log on to my account and read my special message under "friendster". Kong Yong wrote in my inbox:

"Do u remember me? I'm Foo Kong Yong
Ur full name Chai Zhen Yi, right?"

Who is Foo Kong Yong?? And he (so it's a boy!) got my name spelled wrong, it's Chai Ching Yee! I look further at his profile and image gallery, (I'm gonna find out who is this guy!!) and suddenly I found a light bulb above my head! (Ding!)
HEY! I know this man! My GOSH! How long was it since we depart? 10 years? 11 years? I think it's almost 12 years! He was my school mate in high school, and we were in the same class for almost all my years in the high school. Then, we sang Auld Lang Syne, greet each other good bye and left our separate paths toward different lifes. I remember it all now, with mental picture became visualize right in front my eyes, the nostalgic moment suddenly hit its "play" button......

I was in my green and white typical high school uniform, hand carry my black color batman school bag to the school, sitting in my familiar classroom. I could almost hear the mango drop on our ceiling while teacher scribble chalks on the blackboard, and how little chit chat and passing little paper among the classmate.
Kong Yong was my good friend, he is so smart and always so hard working (I was rather lazy and unattentive in school!), and every year end his results would always makes me felt ashame of myself, for not trying harder. (But I never any good in study, I have choose another paths instead!) I remember her mum own a little cafe at the town hall, and everytime I pass by there, the picture of him studying and doing homeworks so clearly stucked in my mind. What a shame I didn't pick-up his good quality at all. (How rotten! Ha....) And of course as I expected, he continue to study and attending different schools (as listed in his profile), no doubt he would be reaching the dreams of his life.

Just then, I would love to wish my friend Kong Yong all the best in his life and found joy and success in everything he ever and will achieve! Cheers Mate!

Make-up, make-up, make-up......

Hi! My name is "Dong Dong"....(I reckon it's a stupid name!)

My clown buddy, "Ding Ding" & "Dong Dong"...... sound like a bells apparently!

Last week, I've been putting on so much make-up on my face (Two clowning mask and one pirate mask.). There were three children party where I am playing the clown, entertaining the little one to enjoy their celebration of easter. It was a pretty tired and busy week for me! (My eyes was swollen the next day, it was the size of a golf ball! My gosh.....)

Children now a day just not that childlike anymore, they can't just simply have fun, and always asking why we doing this, why we doing that......Oh kids! Don't act like an adult yet! Have plenty of fun! (I guess our kids are growing too fast!)

One of the party was a birthday party, I requested the host to dress-up as pirate, to match the theme of "The Pirate of the Caribbean". I was dress according to Captain Jack Sparrow, with a little moustache, a hair cover, with some Papua New Guinea shell necklace that I received when I was there, plus lots of knitted sword balloons. (It was a cool party! I get paid for playing pirate in this party!)

It has been one of my dreams to venture into a creative arts ministry, creating performances such as drama plays, clowning, miming, dances and etc. I always likes to be refer as the creative person, an artist, it's all about entertainments! (Geez.....A man under the moonlight......what a daydreamer!)

Sometime I would think, to achieve something in life, all it takes was to dreams......and of course to grab it with butterfly nets! Whooooop......
